Places are still available at the inaugural meeting of the new European Academy’s Research and Academic Symposium, to be held in Lausanne, Switzerland, from the 16 – 17 May 2009. The booking deadline for the event has been extended and delegates will be able to reserve their place up until 15th May. The Symposium promises to be an exciting event which will bring together key stakeholders from across Europe to discuss and disseminate the latest research relating to optometry, optics and vision science.
This exciting event will be of interest to all professionals in optics. With presenters from across Europe, the Research and Academic Symposium provides a unique opportunity to network with colleagues from other countries.
The Symposium will help participants to keep up to date with the latest research and new ideas and will provide a key channel to support participants in their work to share research, information and best practice.
The Symposium will feature two keynote lectures. Dr Robert Harper, Optometrist Consultant at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, England, will presentGlaucoma: Challenges and opportunities for optometry. Josephine Mullin, Director of Education at the College of Optometrists, London, England will present the Education keynote on developing a Scheme for Registration.

The first meeting of the Academy will be held in the Olympic Museum, Lausanne. The Academy’s Research and Academic Symposium has been incorporated into the ECOO Spring meeting, running from 14 – 17 May. ECOO members can register to attend both ECOO and Academy meetings.
