British Journal of Visual Impairment
The British Journal of Visual Impairment is an interdisciplinary peer-reviewed publication concerned with social research, policy and practice. The journal publishes articles on visual impairment relevant to education, health, welfare, employment and the application of technology. BJVI is for all professionals concerned with children and adults who have a visual impairment and is a forum for all views on related subjects.

Community Eye Health
Published by the International Centre for Eye Health, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, it addresses the elimination of avoidable blindness and focuses on countries where the burden of preventable blindness is greatest. Readers include ophthalmologists, optometrists, nurses, ophthalmic assistants, general doctors, programme planners, administrators, and public health specialists. Selected articles are published in special French, Chinese, and Spanish editions.

Contact Lens & Anterior Eye
A research-based journal covering all aspects of contact lens theory and practice, including original articles on invention and innovations, as well as the regular features of: Case Reports; Literary Reviews; Editorials; Instrumentation and Techniques and Dates of Professional Meetings.

Current Eye Research
Current Eye Research is a monthly publication that encompasses all areas of eye research. Topics covered include: Clinical research, anatomy, physiology, biophysics, biochemistry, pharmacology, developmental biology, microbiology, and immunology

Dispensing Optics Journal
The professional journal of the Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) published monthly in the UK. Only available to members of ABDO.

Eye is the official journal of The Royal College of Ophthalmologists. It aims to provide the practising ophthalmologist with information on the latest clinical and laboratory-based research.

Journal of Optometry
The Journal of Optometry is the scientific peer-reviewed publication of the Spanish General Council of Optometry. Free on-line access. Articles available in PDF for download. Published quarterly since 2008

Scandinavian Journal of Optometry and Visual Science
A forum for promoting research amongst optometrists and other researchers in optometry and visual science in the Scandinavian countries Denmark, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. Articles are written in Norwegian or English, but the abstracts are published in both languages.

NORTH AMERICAN JOURNALS

American Journal of Ophthalmology
A peer-reviewed, scientific publication that welcomes the submission of original, previously unpublished manuscripts directed to ophthalmologists and visual science specialists describing clinical investigations, clinical observations, and clinically relevant laboratory investigations. Published monthly since 1884, the full text of the American Journal of Ophthalmology and supplementary material are also presented on the Internet at www.AJO.com.

Archives of Ophthalmology
An international peer-reviewed ophthalmology and visual science journal published 12 times per year by the American Medical Association. An online version is published on the second Monday of the month. Archives of Ophthalmology's 2009 impact factor is 3.86. (see Archives Editors and Publishers).

To note - the online version is made freely available or nearly so to institutions in developing countries through the World Health Organization's HINARI program.

Cornea - The Journal of Cornea and External Disease (USA)
For corneal specialists and general ophthalmologists with an interest in this subspecialty, Cornea brings together the latest clinical and basic research on the cornea and the anterior segment of the eye. Each volume is peer-reviewed by Cornea's board of world-renowned experts and fully indexed in archival format.

Eye and Contact Lens
Eye & Contact Lens: Science and Clinical Practice is the official journal of the Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmologists (CLAO), an international educational association for refractive eyecare. This scientific, peer-reviewed medical journal is the only one of its kind to address all aspects of refractive science - contact lenses, optical dispensing, refractive surgery and related anterior segment disease.

Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science
An official journal of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) - an international organization whose purposes are to encourage and assist research, training, publication, and dissemination of knowledge in vision and ophthalmology. Published monthly online, the journal includes original contributions that emphasize clinical and laboratory hypothesis-based research with statistically good results that clearly advance the fields of ophthalmic and vision research. IOVS de-emphasizes purely descriptive research.

Journal of Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus
A bimonthly peer-reviewed publication for pediatric ophthalmologists, it publishes original articles on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of eye disorders in the pediatric age group and the treatment of strabismus in all age groups.

Journal of Behavioural Optometry
This peer-reviewed journal is the the membership-only journal for the Optometric Extension Program Foundation.  it encourages authors to submit manuscripts that are based in the clnicially relevant behavioural, functional and developmental aspects of the visual system.

An on-line, free-access, peer-reviewed scientific journal devoted to all aspects of visual function in humans and other organisms. The journal is published exclusively in digital form: full-text articles may be accessed for free via the internet. The journal encourages the effective use of color, multimedia, hyperlinks, program code, and other digital enhancements. The Journal of Vision is published by the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), an international organization devoted to research, training, and dissemination of knowledge in vision and ophthalmology.

Optometry – Journal of the American Optometric Association
Provides doctors of optometry (O.D.) and optometry students with research that helps improve the quality of eye and vision care everywhere. It contains peer-reviewed articles on various clinical aspects of the profession and presents readers with educational material on current research in vision problems, eye disease, and other vision abnormalities. The content covers a range of topics with an emphasis in primary care optometry, contact lenses, sports vision, low vision, pharmaceuticals, and practice enhancement. In addition to articles, regular features include editorial perspectives, book reviews, medical abstracts, health notes, industry news, and office management.

Retina
RETINA® focuses exclusively on the growing specialty of vitreoretinal disorders. The Journal provides highly specialized and informative, peer-reviewed articles regarding current information on diagnostic and therapeutic techniques which are easily applicable to clinical practice.

Survey of Ophthalmology
A clinically oriented review journal designed to keep ophthalmologists up to date. Comprehensive major review articles, written by experts and stringently refereed, integrate the literature on subjects selected for their clinical importance.

OTHER JOURNALS

Clinical and Experimental Optometry
A peer reviewed journal listed by ISI and abstracted by PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, Science Citation Index and Current Contents. It publishes original research papers and reviews in clinical optometry and vision science. Debate and discussion of controversial scientific and clinical issues is encouraged and letters to the Editor and short communications expressing points of view on matters within the Journal's areas of interest are welcome. The Journal is published six times annually.

Experimental Eye Research
The primary goal of Experimental Eye Research is to publish original research papers on all aspects of experimental biology of the eye and ocular tissues that seek to define the mechanisms of normal function and/or disease. Studies of ocular tissues that encompass the disciplines.

Vision Research
Vision Research is a journal devoted to the functional aspects of human, vertebrate and invertebrate vision and publishes experimental and observational studies, reviews, and theoretical papers firmly based upon the current facts of visual science.
