Accompanying guests are very welcome to join delegates at the event. 

Dublin is one of the most historical cities in Europe, and we are offering a special programme of excursions over the weekend, allowing your accompanying person(s) to get the most out of their visit.

Friday 20 April

Afternoon programme
You will take a short taxi ride into the city centre of Dublin to have lunch at Dublin’s oldest pub – The Brazen Head - on the site of the original 12th century tavern.

Be prepared for a 20 minute walk past O’Connell Bridge and Bachelors Walk to join the River Liffey Cruise. You will gain an insight into the history of Dublin City and the River Liffey, in particular, from the first arrival of the Vikings over 1000 years ago to the rapid development of the city during the 18th and 19th centuries.  Then you have a short tour of the O’Connell street areas before returning to the hotel.

Evening programme
An informal evening with friends, colleagues and partners at the ECOO get together dinner at The Church, one of Dublin's most unique restaurants.  This dinner is open to partners of those booking the ECCO accompanying partner programme ticket.

Saturday 21 April

Day programme
A half day excursion to The Boyne Valley is without a doubt the most historical region of the whole island and is a worthwhile day trip outside of Dublin with coach transfer. 

The Boyne Valley is home to some of Ireland's most important monuments, such as Newgrange & Knowth. These are megalithic tombs, dating from 2500 BC, located along the valley of the river Boyne.

You will be taken back to the city centre where you will have part of the afternoon free for shopping which is optional around the popular Grafton Street area before taking the coach back to the hotel.

Evening programme

Join partners and friends at the annual Academy  and Association of Optometrists Ireland (AOI) dinner.

Sunday 22 April

Morning programme
The morning will include a visit to St Patrick’s Cathedral. Founded in 1191 it has contributed to much of Irish life throughout its long history. 

In case you did not catch the rest of the city be prepared for walking on this excursion as it will be followed by a short tour before taking a taxi back to the hotel.
